Despite the current challenges faced by the Zambian nation, it can be said that it has achieved great feat and come a long way from being a divided nation. Zambia was known to be a cluster of numerous small tribes and there was no unity and therefore, no development. However, there was one individual who change the structure and face of the Zambian nation. This individual was Kenneth Kaunda, the ‘Independence Hero of Zambia’, ‘Father of the Nation & Zambian Union’ as well as the first-ever president of Zambia. Sadly, he is no more. Recently, Dr. Rajan Mahtani shared an eulogy and gave a tribute to Kenneth Kaunda for his innumerable and significant contributions towards the development of the Zambian nation.
Late Kenneth Kaunda is an ideal for anyone who wants to have a passionate life and wants to dedicate towards growth and development of a nation. Late Kenneth Kaunda lived an exemplary life with utmost faith in god, equality for everyone, dedication towards god as well as sacrificial engagement. He was also known among his friends and family as a pianist, singer, guitarist, footballer, poet, writer, dancer as well as family man. Dr. Rajan Mahtani shares several similarities with the Late Dr. Kaunda. It was Dr. Mahtani’s late father, Lekhraj Mahtani, who supported and collaborated with Kenneth Kaunda in his quest for Zambian independence. Late Lekhraj Mahtani was a councillor from Ndola and shared similar traits of honesty, transparency and humility his entire life.
The demise of such a great and notable independence hero of Zambia is definitely a saddening event. Dr. Mahtani in his eulogy urged Zambians to follow his path and take Zambia to greater heights.
