It seems like Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is constantly fighting for something or the other. However, the most important and long-standing fight Dr. Mahtani had was the Portland Cement Zambia case. The case was first registered at the Lusaka High Court where the case proceedings dragged for more than a decade. Despite this long pendency, justice was not given and the final judgement declared Ventriglias as only shareholders of Portland Cement. Dr. Mahtani then challenged this decision at the higher Court of Appeal and on 31st January 2019, justice Mwinde on behalf of the higher Court of Appeal announced Dr. Rajan Mahtani as the majority shareholder and only legal owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.
After more than a decade of the decision from the higher Court of Appeal in Portland Cement case, the Ventriglias have now attempted their hands by moving toward the Supreme Court Zambia. In their allure, the Ventriglias guaranteed that the choice from the higher Court of Appeal was unscrupulous and wrong. To assess this allure, a seat containing three Supreme Court judges was set up. After assessment, the appointed authorities affirmed that they can’t acknowledge the case on a few grounds. The main significant ground is that any allure against a past court choice should be given 14 days of definite judgment from the past court. Be that as it may, the Ventriglias have moved toward this case more than 1.5 years after the choice by higher Court of Appeal which was made on 31st January 2019. Besides, the adjudicators additionally announced that subsequent to investigating the reports, their choice would be like higher Court of Appeal.
