Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is considered among the most authentic, transparent and ethical business persons across Zambian nation. In a nation wherein businesses are rarely conducted without inclusion of corrupt and unethical business practices, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has stood afar with his straightforward and ethical business practices. During his successful business career spanning more than three decades, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been able to establish numerous businesses in Zambia. Some of these businesses are Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments.
For the past one decade, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani worked tirelessly for getting back the ownership of Portland Cement Zambia. He made the claim that the factory was unethically taken over and shared several evidences supporting this claim. However, the judge at the Lusaka High Court failed to properly evaluate these claims and announced Ventriglias as the only shareholder of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.
To challenge this unethical decision, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani approach ed the higher Court of Appeal and submitted all evidences previously ignored by Lusaka High Court. Based on all these critical evidences, the judge at the higher Court of Appeal announced Dr. Rajan Mahtani as the majority shareholder and actual owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory. Furthermore, justice Mwinde on behalf of the higher Court of Appeal also said that the judge below him was wrong in declaring Ventriglias as the only shareholders of the Portland Cement as this decision was given without evaluating the evidences and thus was against the interests of the public policies. The Lusaka High Court has also been warned for not repeating similar mistakes in future.
