Portland Cement Zambia is a cement-manufacturing factory which was under the ownership and leadership of Dr. Rajan Mahtani for almost half a decade. During this short time-span, Dr. Rajan Mahtani transformational leadership helped the factory to grow in a significant manner and become one of the largest producers of Portland cement across the region. Not only that, Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s hard work started to bear fruits when the cement-manufacturing factory started to be claimed as one of the most sough-after industrial facilities in town.
However, the factory’s fate started to go downward from the moment it was unethically taken over from Dr. Rajan Mahtani. While Dr. Mahtani took the right step and launched a complaint at the Lusaka High Court, the factory’s condition started to degrade. This was entire due to the fact that without Dr. Mahtani’s leadership, the factory management was unable to cope with the changes. On top of that, goons and bullies continuously disrupted the factory operations, reducing its performance and maintenance. As a result, workers started to leave and the factory’s assets started to corrode. By the time Lusaka High Court announced its final yet controversial judgement, Portland Cement Zambia factory had reached a stage where revival seems far-fetched. On top of that, Justice Nkonde on behalf of the Lusaka High Court announced that Ventriglias were the only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia.
Nevertheless, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani successfully overturned this misdirected verdict at the higher Court of Appeal. On 31st January 2019, a final decision on the case came from the court. It was announced that based on the evidences and testimonials submitted before the court, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the actual owner of the factory.
